Privacy
Short version: the whole simulator runs in your browser. There are no accounts, no cookies and no server holding your roster.
Who runs this site
HungerSim is a free hobby project run by Myloes, in the UK, who is the data controller for the little personal data described here. Contact: hello@hungersim.com.
Your roster and pictures
Names, pronouns, traits and pictures are saved in your own browser (local storage) so the roster is still there next time. They are never uploaded. Pictures you add are shrunk to a small square on your device before they are saved. Reset roster, or clearing this site's data in your browser, deletes all of it.
If you add a picture by pasting a link instead, your browser fetches it from that website, which sees the request the same way it would if you opened the image yourself.
Visit counts
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you: it sees which page was opened, roughly which country it came from and what kind of browser. That's why there is no cookie banner.
Emailing us
If you email hello@hungersim.com, we get your email address and whatever you write. It is only used to reply, and deleted within 12 months.
Hosting and other services
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles your IP address to deliver the pages and to protect the site from attacks; this is not used to identify you. Email to hello@hungersim.com is forwarded by Cloudflare to a Microsoft Outlook inbox. Cloudflare and Microsoft may process data outside the UK, under the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
The Support the Creator on Ko-fi button takes you to Ko-fi's own website. Nothing is shared with Ko-fi unless you click it, and anything you do there falls under Ko-fi's privacy policy.
Why this is allowed
The lawful basis is legitimate interests: running the site, keeping it secure, counting visits so we know whether it is used, and answering emails. Your roster is stored in your browser only because you asked the site to keep it, so no cookie consent is needed for it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you (in practice, only an email you sent us), or object to how it is used. Email hello@hungersim.com. If you are unhappy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
